What Does Mick Jagger Eat?

Have you seen a recent picture of Mick Jagger lately? Yes, he’s old. But have you seen how ripped he is? Despite being well over 70 years old, he is in better shape than most. So what does Mick Jagger eat?

Mick Jagger eats a balanced whole foods diet consisting of whole grains, plenty of beans and legumes, lots of fresh fruits and veggies, particularly avocados, and healthy proteins such as fish and chicken. He is also a big fan of healthy smoothies.

Staying in such great shape isn’t just a matter of what you eat. Mick Jagger’s ability to make it effortlessly through a live show has a lot to do with his lifestyle as a whole.

How does this grandfather of rock do it? What does his workout routine look like? Does he continue to drink, smoke, and party like in the old days?

And what does that guy weigh, anyway?

Is Mick Jagger a vegetarian?

Mick Jagger was supposedly a vegetarian in the 1970s, but as of today, Mick Jagger is not a vegetarian, and he hasn’t been for a long time.

According to the International Vegetarian Union, he was reported to have said, “I can’t eat here, I’m a vegetarian!”, as he left an awards ceremony at the White House in 1978.

But, in fact, back in 1988, he contributed a recipe for shrimp curry to the now out-of-print cookbook Rock & Roll Cuisine.

Ironically, I used to work with the co-author of that book, Peggy Sue Honeyman Scott, when I worked for Whole Foods Market. She was the widow of James Honeyman-Scott of the Pretenders.

And she and I spoke at length about the book she was putting together which was still in development.

According to a Gulf News article, before undergoing his heart valve replacement surgery in 2019, he was actually trying out the keto diet.

For those of you who may not know, the keto diet is heavy in fats and proteins and practically eliminates carbohydrates.

I’ll admit I wasn’t able to dig up an authoritative source or quote from the man himself.

But it seems like Mick Jagger’s current diet is carefully balanced by his nutritionist and includes all the major food groups.

What does Mick Jagger do to keep fit?

In addition to eating well, Mick Jagger keeps fit by an intense exercise routine that includes running, cycling, yoga, dance, and resistance training. He trains 5 – 6 days a week under the guidance of his personal trainer, Torje Eike, who has worked with him for more than 25 years.

While it might not seem like it, being a rock star of Mick Jagger’s caliber basically requires the stamina of a high-endurance athlete.

A good musician can stand in front of a band while he sings, but a real entertainer will be moving around. ‘Snake hips’ Jagger all but runs a marathon on stage, much to his audience’s delight.

Eike’s philosophy is rather simple:

“Pick the right type of exercise and follow a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet, and you will be slim – and fit – for life.”

And that’s basically what it boils down to, right there: Mick Jagger stays fit through a common-sense diet and a highly active exercise routine.

Does Mick Jagger drink coffee?

Mick Jagger does drink coffee but has long preferred drinking tea to drinking coffee.

Back in 2019, while playing a show in San Francisco’s Levi’s Stadium, he gave a spontaneous and wholehearted endorsement for the Irish coffee served by the Buena Vista Café.

Considering that this was the 40th concert the Stones had played in the area, one could assume that he had been enjoying this iconic San Francisco coffee drink for years.

That being said, he is definitely known to be an avid tea drinker more than a coffee fanatic. He is famously quoted as having said:

“I got nasty habits; I take tea at three.”

How much does Mick Jagger weigh?

Estimates are that Mick Jagger weighs between 148 and 161 lbs. Mick Jagger is famously thin and has been so throughout his entire life. He has always maintained a 28-inch waistline.

With his level of success, it would have been easy for him to get comfortable and pack on some pounds.

But health and fitness were always a priority for him (yes, even when he was wrapped up in a true rock and roll lifestyle).

He is fairly tall, 5’10” to be exact, so that weight is spread pretty thin.

Does Mick Jagger still smoke cigarettes?

Mick Jagger reportedly quit smoking in the late 1970s or early 1980s. So unlike fellow Rolling Stone Keith Richards, who was still famously hooked on cigarettes up until 2020, Jagger quit long ago.

So, I think it’s safe to say that with Jagger’s strict diet and exercise regime, there is no room for a cigarette habit.

After Jagger’s heart surgery, it was reported by The Telegraph that Keith Richards started using a smokeless ashtray out of consideration for his non-smoking bandmate.

There was never an official announcement about Mick quitting, but people started noticing that he was being photographed less and less frequently with a cigarette in his hand.
