Brendon Urie is known for having an impeccable voice. He pushes himself to sing notes not usually attributed to male singers. This leads many fans to wonder, does Brendon Urie have perfect pitch?
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Brendon Urie does not have perfect pitch, which is the ability to sing a note without any accompaniment or reference tone. However, having perfect pitch has very little to do with how a singer sounds or their ability to sing really well.
Having perfect pitch is about note recognition.
While this is a great characteristic for a singer to possess, it does not make them a better singer than someone who does not have perfect pitch. Brendon Urie’s work both on stage and in the studio is proof that you don’t need perfect pitch to be a great singer.
I did a bit of research into Brendon’s vocal ability to fully understand his range, whether or not he uses help to achieve his crystal-clear sound and his overall vocal technique.
This is what I found.

Does Brendon Urie have the largest vocal range?
Brendon Urie is known for his large 4-octave vocal range, but it is not the largest range in rock and pop music. Both Axl Rose and Mariah Carey had wider ranges in their heyday. However, the average singer can only cover 2 octaves.
While Urie is not listed on it, check out this handy chart showing many popular singers and their vocal ranges:
For the entirety of Panic! At the Disco’s career, Brendon Urie’s voice has been front and center.
Of course, fans love the interesting themes in their music, but the dynamic nature of Brendon’s voice brought their music to life. He has quite an impressive vocal range and ability.
Brendon’s four-octave range is rare for a male singer.
There are singers out there whose voices can achieve more than four octaves. However, this is a pretty specular feat for a male singer. Traditionally, male singers sing in lower registers, but Brendon is one of the few examples of one who can push themselves to different limits.
Brendon is known as a lyric tenor.
This means that some of the main qualities of his voice are that it is graceful and bright will full timbre. Brendon’s voice is not heavy, but it is powerful enough to be heard over an orchestra.
Some people have actually mistaken Brendon for being a soprano.
But is that true? In a recent article, I covered his exact range and whether or not it’s even possible for a male singer to be considered a soprano.

What is Brendon Urie’s highest note?
Brendon’s highest note is a c7. This is quite the high note for any singer, but especially a male singer.
Brendon Urie has spent his career singing and pushing himself to greater heights vocally.
This has led to his ability to hit such crystal-clear high notes that many could only dream of. His voice spans an extravagant 4 octaves and 7 notes. His voice ranges from a D2 to a C7.
Brendon mixes theater into his vocal performances.
Part of the reason why Brendon’s vocal range seems so exciting is that it adds a different element to the songs. Listening to Panic! At the Disco is like witnessing theatre.
This is because Brendon isn’t a conventual singer; he makes music that is meant to inspire thought and intense emotion.
Fans can hear Brendon’s highest notes in many of his songs with Panic! At the Disco, but in the songs he has been featured in by other artists. One example of this is “Me” by Taylor Swift.

Does Brendon Urie use pitch correction?
Brendon Urie uses small amounts of autotune pitch correction in his recordings. But it is more about how it alters the tone of his voice in relation to the music than it is about correcting poorly sung notes.
Brendon Urie takes advantage of modern technology in his music.
This means that the sound engineers sometimes add autotune to the songs to provide a more polished sound. This is not a reflection of Brendon’s vocal ability but rather simply a sign of the times.
But how much does he use, and has he always used it? And what about using it in concert? I cover all that and more in a recent article. Just click that link to read it on my site.
Some of the best singers in the world use pitch correction
Being a great singer is not all about doing things the traditional way. Before autotune, singers would spend a great deal of time working on a single song to perfect small things. This not only took up time, but also costed them more when it came to paying for studio time.
Nowadays, technology can smooth over some of those minor imperfections that would have previously slowed down the recording process.
This does not mean the singer isn’t talented enough to do this on their own. It just means they are using the available technology.
It is important to point out that, for the most part, Brendon’s use of pitch correction technology is not as noticeable as with other artists. He still cares about the craft of singing.

Does Brendon Urie have good vocal technique?
Brendon has some great vocal techniques, but he often compromises his technique when singing in his lower ranges. He did, however, recently work with vocal coach Katie Agresta while on Broadway to improve his technique.
Being a great singer is a result of a few things. Vocal range is important, but the vocal technique is easily next in line. A good vocal technique can take an okay singer and make them great.
Brendon’s vocal technique isn’t always the greatest, and it shows to people who study singing.
An example of this is the way he achieves his lower range. Brendon does this by lowering his larynx. Also, some experts say that he loses character in some of his higher notes due to his vocal technique.
While only some experts can hear these imperfections, a poor vocal technique could damage vocal cords.
This is because not using good vocal technique essentially means you are singing in the wrong way. This may not present an issue if poor technique is rare, but prolonged use could have a negative impact.

Which singer has the most octaves?
The singer with the most octaves is Tim Storms. He has a ten-octave range.
There are a few well-known singers who many may think have the most octaves under their belts. However, the person who holds this title is not all that famous. Tim Storms has an impressive 10-octave vocal range and is the Guinness World Record holder for their feat.
Despite this accomplishment, he has never achieved significant success in the music industry. This shows that making it is about a combination of things and not only vocal ability.
Tim Storms is also known for having the world’s deepest voice.
Conclusion
Brendon Urie is a great singer despite not having perfect pitch or the best vocal technique.
He has an impressive range, and his voice is very flexible. This makes him ideal for almost any type of music. Brendon has left an invaluable mark on the industry and shows no signs of slowing down.
